Formed in 1982, Queen Anne Helpline was established for the purpose of keeping our neighbors stably housed and amply resourced. We are primarily funded by individual donors who live or work in Queen Anne, Magnolia, or South Lake Union. When residents in our service area (delineated by zip codes 98109, 98119, and 98199) are at risk of losing their housing or utility services, Queen Anne Helpline can help them maintain stability through one-time payments to landlords or utility providers.
If you are at immediate risk of eviction, please reach out the Housing Justice Project (206-267-7069) right away. We are not able to provide emergency financial assistance or legal advice.
FAQ - please read before applying
What can Queen Anne Helpline help me with?
You are welcome to apply if you:
- If you are facing a temporary financial hardship, we can help cover the cost of your rent or utilities to keep you stably housed. If you are moving into our service area, we can help cover move-in costs.
- If you are eligible for assistance, we can help in the amount of either $600 or one-month’s rent, whichever is lower.
- We are only able to give financial assistance to our neighbors who have an active lease (with your name listed) in zip codes 98109, 98119, and 98199. If you do not live in one of those zip codes, we are unfortunately unable to help you financially. You can visit us for certain nonfinancial needs or call 2-1-1 for other resources.
You are welcome to apply if you:
- Have not received financial assistance from us in the last 12 months
- Have an active lease in our service area with your name listed
- Can attest that financial assistance of either $600 or one-month’s rent (whichever is lower) would prevent your facing possible homelessness or utility shut-off and restore your financial stability.
- We are not able to provide short-notice, emergency financial assistance. If you are at immediate risk of eviction, please reach out to the Housing Justice Project (206-267-7069) right away.
- If you have secured housing in our service area and signed a lease, we may be able to help you cover move-in costs like security deposit/first month’s rent.
- No. We can only help with moving costs if you are moving into our service area, not out of it.
- No, but we may be able to help cover your current rent to keep you stably housed so long as you are eligible.
- We only accept applications between the 1st and 10th of each month. If you apply after the 10th of the month, your application will NOT be reviewed. Please only submit an application between the 1st and the 10th of the month.
- If you are a new client, fill out the form below between the 1st and 10th of the month and we will get back to you to confirm your eligibility. Please do not drop by our office to inquire about financial assistance, you will be directed to fill out the form below.
- Once you’ve filled out the application below, as long as you have done so between the 1st and 10th of the month, we will review your application. If you are eligible for financial assistance, we will reach out to schedule an appointment for you to bring your photo ID and a copy of your lease. We will then contact your landlord or utility provider and coordinate to send a payment to them.
- This process can take up to a few weeks, and we are therefore not a resource for short-notice, emergency assistance. We recommend reaching out to the Housing Justice Project (206-267-7069) right away if you need quick eviction prevention.
- If you have received financial assistance from us in the past, you may be eligible again as long as you still live in our service area and it has been at least 12 months since we last helped you. Please call our office at 206-282-1540 and dial 3 at the menu to leave a message for Margaret, and we will process your request.
