If you are at immediate risk of eviction, please reach out the Housing Justice Project (206-267-7100) right away. We are not able to provide emergency financial assistance or legal advice.

FAQ - Please read before applying

What can Queen Anne Helpline help me with?

If you are facing a temporary financial hardship, we can help cover the cost of your rent or utilities to keep you stably housed. If you are moving into our service area, we can help cover move-in deposits. If you are eligible for assistance, we can help in the amount of either $500 or one-month’s rent, whichever is lower.

What is your service area?

We are only able to give financial assistance to our neighbors who have an active lease (with your name listed) in zip codes 98109, 98119, and 98199. If you do not live in one of those zip codes, we are unfortunately unable to help you financially. You can visit us for certain nonfinancial needs or call 2-1-1 for other resources.

Who is eligible for financial assistance?

You are welcome to apply if all of the following apply to you:

  • You have not received financial assistance from us in the last 12 months

  • You are a renter with an active lease in our service area (your name must be on the lease)

  • You can attest that financial assistance of either $500 or one-month’s rent (whichever is lower) would prevent your facing possible homelessness or utility shut-off and restore your financial stability.

I am at immediate risk of eviction. Can you pay my rent now?

We are not able to provide short-notice, emergency financial assistance. If you are at immediate risk of eviction, please reach out to the Housing Justice Project (206-267-7100) right away.

I want to move into your service area. Can you help me cover move-in costs?

If you have secured housing in our service area and signed a lease, we may be able to help you cover move-in costs like security deposit/first month’s rent. Please note that we are not able to help you find housing, cannot pay for movers, and we cannot contribute financially until you have signed a lease.

I want to move out of your service area. Can you help me cover move-in costs?

No. We can only help with moving costs (like deposit and first month rent) if you are moving into our service area, not out of it.

Can you help with my back rent (past-due rent from previous months)?

No, but we may be able to help cover your current rent to keep you stably housed, as long as you are eligible.

When can I apply?

We only accept applications between the 1st and 10th of each month. If you apply after the 10th of the month, your application will NOT be reviewed. Please only submit an application between the 1st and the 10th of the month.

How can I apply?

If you are requesting financial assistance for the first time, fill out the form below between the 1st and 10th of the month and we will get back to you to confirm your eligibility. Please do not drop by our office to inquire about financial assistance; you will be directed to fill out the form below.

What does the process look like? How long will it take?

Once you’ve filled out the application below, as long as you have done so between the 1st and 10th of the month, we will review your application. If you are eligible for financial assistance, we will reach out to schedule an appointment for you to bring your photo ID and a copy of your lease. We will then contact your landlord or utility provider and coordinate to send a payment to them. This process can take up to a few weeks, and we are therefore not a resource for short-notice, emergency assistance. We recommend reaching out to the Housing Justice Project (206-267-7100) right away if you need immediate eviction prevention.

What if I am a returning client?

If you have received financial assistance from us in the past, you may be eligible again as long as you still live in our service area and it has been at least 12 months since we last helped you. Please call our office at 206-282-1540 and dial 3 at the menu to leave a message for Morgan, and we will process your request.
